Assessment Principles
  Water quality

The good chemical status according to the EU-WFD is achieved if all priority and priority hazardous substances comply with the environmental quality standards (EQS).

The classification of the ecological status includes, inter alia, the basin specific synthetic and non-synthetic pollutants beside the biological quality elements. The good ecological status can only be achieved if the environmental quality standards for these pollutants are complied with. With the passing of the "Oberflächengewässerverordnung" there are EQS for 167 substances nationally laid down by law.

The continuously measured parameters, nutrients, chloride and other ions are only supporting elements for the classification of the ecological status. For these orientation values have been established partly.

For a better presentation of the results, 4 grades with different colours show the status "good" or "failing to achieve good".
