The goal of the potential analysis is the assessment of the significance of transregional migration routes and their hydraulic barriers for the interconnection of the habitats of anadromous, katadromous and potamodromous species. The basis for this analysis consists of the quality, quantity as well as the location of spawning and nursery waters in the catchment area.
In a first phase, the interconnection process was assessed for all transregional migration routes, with special regard to Weser, lower Werra and lower Fulda.
In a second phase, the fish ecological importance of the considered locations of hydraulic barriers in these rivers was derived from this analysis, which offers the basis for the identification of location specific action recommendations and a development of appropriate measures. |
