The area of the Weser river basin district is situated entirely within the sovereign territory of Germany and here in the centre of North and Central Germany. The Federal States of Bavaria, Bremen, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia have different proportions of this river basin district which covers covers the neighbouring catchments of the Weser river and the little Jade river. Both rivers flow into the North Sea.
